5 Small Survival Building Ideas

16th March 2016

Sometimes, you feel like you've got nothing to do in your survival worlds : face it, we've all been there. So today, in no particular order, I'm going to be presenting 5 small building ideas you can do without too much of a commitment.

1. Stairs

Stairs are a very under-rated feature in Minecraft, they get you up and down levels but don't do much else. But they have so many different functions and applying them can give you something to focus on for a while whilst you think of a bigger project to do.

2. Pixel Art

Pixel art is pretty awesome! Pretty much anything you can see in real life can be re-created in Minecraft. And it doesn't even need to be massive to look effective ; items found in MInecraft are great as they're not as big as a full block but still look amazing. Clownfish and Melon slices look particularly cool in my opinion.

3.Water Slides

Even though you can't get up to the same speeds on a water slide in Minecraft as you can in real life, it doesn't stop them from being incredibly fun to make and use. As well as looking really cool in your world, they also function as landmarks to stop you from getting lost in the vastness of Minecraft as you can make them fairly tall.

4.Farms

These aren't quite as cool as the previous two, however adding a windmill to your existing farm or automating them, makes them even better to use, and who doesn't want a lovely rustic windmill towering over their crops.

5.Swimming Pools

Although swimming pools are quite common, creating them still can improve your world and there are so many ways you can make them a step above the rest : diving boards, redstone lighting (putting lights behind stairs with smooth lighting on maximum looks amazing), waterfalls, shallow ends and deep ends, as well as jacuzzis (you can put lava underneath water with a layer of glass in-between to give the illusion of warm water).
