About: The Virtual Moon Village
The Virtual Moon Village project is based on an educational vision projected into the metaverse that incorporates the latest scientific and technological knowledge about space and the Moon, and the Earth as a joint ecosystem. Villagers are avatars, citizens occupying virtual living space on, in, and under the lunar soil, with plenty of opportunities to explore the lunar surface around them.
As a community, they form and are formed by an immersive public sphere through their mutual interactions as a community, engaging in research, education, and entertainment. Sustainability ranks high on their research program, as well as survival skills in a hostile environment, together with the challenge of collaborating in a culturally diverse group.
Moon Village will stimulate the imagination of young people, exploring a new outpost in the Universe, from which they can look up at the tantalizingly blue globe of the Earth, hanging over the dusty grey moonscape, or move down into the many rooms of the underground community where they learn about the essentials of life, from growing food to dealing with social issues, in a pilot project on a cosmic scale.
