The sculpting process is analogous to the process of human existence. We tend to only observe one dimensions at a time. It should be possible to inverse our perception and displace our observation to the shadow, the rejected material, or the negative face of the object; the essential 'non-existing' space that allows the actual object to exist. It is like the duality of a human's heart.
The sculpture stands on the waste created as part of the sculpting process. The waste is usually discarded but is just as essential as the 'non-waste' as one cannot exist without the other.
